How To Replace The HP P3015 M521 M525 Maintenance Kit and Fuser Instructions

Maintenance Kit Replacement Instructions

------------- WARNING: Printer Parts May Be Hot --------------

Turn the printer off, unplug it, and allow it to sit for 30 minutes before performing these maintenance procedures.


P3015 M521 M525 Fuser Assembly Removal


  1. Open the rear door/face up tray and pull the door down firmly to release its retention tabs. It should rest perpendicular to the back panel.

  2. Locate the white plastic link arm attached to the rear door. Lift it firmly to separate it from the rear door.

  3. Unfasten the two screws securing the rear door/cover.

  4. Pull and remove the complete rear door assembly from the printer, starting from the bottom.

  5. Slide the AC inlet cover towards the center and remove it from the printer.

  6. Locate the duplex inlet guide at the rear base of the fuser (if present). Lift the two tabs securing the duplex

  7. Inlet guide and remove it from the printer.

  8. Disconnect the black and white wired connector above the AC inlet.

  9. Disconnect the purple wired connector from the right side of the fuser.

  10. Disconnect the lower purple wired connector from the left side of the fuser.

  11. Unfasten the four screws at each corner of the fuser and remove the fuser from the printer.


P3015 M521 M525 Transfer Roller Removal

1. Open the toner access door and remove the toner cartridge.

2. Locate the transfer roller inside the toner cavity.

3. Press inward on the two clips securing the white bushing at the left side of the transfer roller.

4. Lift and remove the tranfer roller along with its white bushing and spring.

5. Leave the protective paper on the replacement. Remove the paper only once the transfer roller is installed.


P3015 M521 M525 Tray 1 Pickup Roller and Separation Pad Removal


1. Open the toner access door and remove the toner cartridge.

2. Locate the tray 1 pickup roller and its lock arms towards the rear.

3. Spread the lock arms apart to release the tray 1 pickup roller and remove it from the printer.

4. Use a small slotted screwdriver to gently pry up on and remove the tray 1 separation pad.


P3015 M521 M525 Tray 2 Pickup Roller and Separation Pad Removal


  1. Remove the tray 2 cassette and toner cartridge.

  2. Flip the printer back so it is standing on the rear door and you are looking into the bottom of the printer.

  3. Locate the tray 2 pickup roller on the underside of the printer.

  4. Unlock the tray 2 pickup roller’s white left side bushing and rotate it upward. Slide it to the left and remove it.

  5. Remove the black roller retaining bracket.

  6. Slide the tray 2 pickup roller to the left and remove it.

  7. Locate the tray 2 separation pad assembly on the cassette.

  8. Unfasten the two screws securing the tray 2 separation pad and remove it from the cassette.
