How To Replace The HP CP4025 CP4525 CM4540 CP3525 CM3530 Transfer Kit Belt

Updated: Feb 11, 2019

HP CP4025 CP4525 CM4540 CP3525 CM3530 Transfer Kit Belt Replacement Instructions.

Before installing this HP LaserJet CP4525 Transfer Kit, please remove the label and cardboard retaining strip from its underside. If the label and strip are not removed, the life count of the transfer kit will not be reset.

This HP Color LaserJet CP4525 transfer kit includes a mechanism to clear the REPLACE TRANSFER KIT” message and reset the transfer kit’s life count. This mechanism will only work once in the printer you install this transfer kit into. There is no other method available to clear the REPLACE TRANSFER KIT” message and reset the transfer kit life count. Unlike other HP Color LaserJets, you cannot reset any maintenance counts using the control panel.

If this transfer kit does not clear the REPLACE TRANSFER KIT” message after installing it and allowing the printer to come to the ‘READY’ state, the internal reset mechanism may have become dislodged during shipping. In this case, please call technical support and they can help to make a quick repair to get you back up and running.

You need to replace the Transfer Belt (also called ITB or Transfer Kit) when the message "REPLACE TRANSFER KIT" displays on the control panel. You may also need to replace the Transfer Belt prior to that message, if you are experiencing print quality issues that aren't resolved by replacing the toner or by performing Calibrations. If you aren't sure what you need to replace, use the .

Replacing the Transfer Belt (ITB, Transfer Kit)

  1. Open the printer's right side door , and use the blue lever

  2. Grasp the small handles on the transfer belt assembly and begin gently pulling the assembly out towards you, until a set of 2 larger handles pop free on the sides of the transfer belt assembly.

  3. Now grasp the larger handles on the transfer belt assembly, and continue pulling the transfer belt straight out of the printer until it is completely removed.

  4. Avoid touching the surface of the new transfer belt.  Install in reverse order, sliding it securely into the machine.

  5. After replacing the Transfer Belt, it's a good idea to perform a Full Calibration (or even several Full Calibrations in a row, if you are having print quality issues).  Full Calibrations help with print quality by aligning the color tones, the drums, and the color plane.  Each Full Calibration takes about 4 minutes.  To perform a Full Calibration: Press MENU to enter the menus. Press Down Arrow to highlight CONFIGURE DEVICE. Press Check mark to select CONFIGURE DEVICE. Press Down Arrow to highlight PRINT QUALITY. Press Check mark to select PRINT QUALITY. Press Down Arrow to highlight FULL CALIBRATE NOW. Press Check mark to select FULL CALIBRATE NOW. Wait for the printer to calibrate (usually takes 4 minutes or so), and then print a test page. If print quality still needs improvement, repeat the Calibration. If multiple Calibrations don't help, some of the toner cartridges may need replacement. If you continue to have image defects see the repetitive image defect below or call tech support.

  6. If you purchased your transfer belt assembly at the exchange price, don't forget to send back your used transfer belt core to Metrofuser.  Re-use the same packaging for safe shipping.
