Comprehensive Guide To Installing The JetDirect Network Card (J4169A J6057A J7934A J7960A J7961A)
To configure TCP/IP parameters from the control panel, use the following instructions:
HP LaserJet 2300, 2400, 4200, 4250, 4300, 4350, 9000, 9050 and Color LaserJet 4600, 4650, 5500, 5550 & 9500 printers
Print out a configuration page before undertaking this procedure. Retain the EIO/Network/JetDirect Configuration Page (usually the 2nd page). This page contains the settings you will need to enter to complete this procedure. If you are unable to print a configuration page, consult with your network administrator to obtain these settings before proceeding.
Turn the printer off. Install the new JetDirect card and connect the network cable.
Turn the power on and wait for the printer to reach the READY or ONLINE state.
Press Check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'CONFIGURE DEVICE'. Press Check
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'I/O'. Press Check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'EIO 1, 2, OR 3' (if installed) or 'EMBEDDED JETDIRECT'. Press check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'TCP/IP'. Press Check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'CONFIG METHOD'. Press Check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'MANUAL'. Press Check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'MANUAL SETTINGS'. Press Check.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'IP ADDRESS'. Press Check.
Enter the first octet of the IP address using up arrow or down arrow buttons. On LaserJets 9000/9050/9500 you may use the numerical keypad to enter these values.
Press Check. Repeat Steps 13 and 14 for the second, third, and fourth octets.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'SUBNET MASK'. Press check.
Enter the first octet of the Subnet Mask using up arrow or down arrow buttons.
Press check. Repeat Steps 16 and 17 for the second, third, and fourth octets.
Press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to 'DEFAULT GATEWAY'. Press check.
Enter the first octet of the Default Gateway using up arrow or down arrow buttons.
Press check. Repeat Steps 19 and 20 for the second, third, and fourth octets.
If required, press up arrow or down arrow and scroll to and configure 'SYSLOG SERVER' and 'IDLE TIMEOUT' using the same method.
When finished configuring, press ◀ repeatedly to return to the main menu.

NOTE: The CFG NETWORK = XXX (XXX being YES or NO) is a toggle, not a permanent setting. Changing it to YES allows the settings to be changed at that time. It will appear as CFG NETWORK = NO each time this menu is accessed.
Press SELECT.
Press ITEM until 'CFG TCP/IP = NO' appears.
Press VALUE until 'CFG TCP/IP = YES' appears.
NOTE: The CFG TCP/IP = XXX (XXX being YES or NO) is a toggle, not a permanent setting. Changing it to YES allows the settings to be changed at that time. It will appear as CFG TCP/IP = NO each time this menu is accessed.
Press SELECT.
Press ITEM until 'BOOTP = YES*' appears.
Press VALUE until 'BOOTP = NO' appears.
NOTE: When using BootP or DHCP, keep the setting BOOTP = YES *. The BootP or DHCP server will configure the TCP/IP parameters on the HP JetDirect. No other TCP/IP configuring is necessary.
Press SELECT.
The following three steps apply to the HP JetDirect 610n cards only:
'DHCP=YES' appears.
Press VALUE until 'DHCP = NO' appears.
Press SELECT.
NOTE: When using DHCP, keep the setting DHCP = YES *. The DHCP server will configure the TCP/IP parameters on the HP Jetdirect. No other TCP/IP configuring is necessary.
Press ITEM until 'IP BYTE 1 = (value*)' appears.
Press VALUE, until the desired value of the first byte of the IP address appears. By pressing and holding VALUE, the value will scroll rapidly (HP LaserJet 4000, 5000 and 8000 printers have a MINUS button to decrease the value).
Press SELECT to save the value.
Press ITEM to continue. Repeat Steps 11-13 to configure the remaining bytes of the IP address.
Repeat Steps 11-13 to configure the subnet mask bytes ('SM BYTE 1='), syslog server IP address ('LG BYTE 1='), default gateway ('GW BYTE 1='), and timeout ('TIMEOUT=').
Press ONLINE, GO or MENU. Print a self-test page to verify the IP settings.
If the test page does not show the correct settings, power cycle the printer and reprint the test page.
