Tray 2 Open” Error on the M600 Series Printers
Incompatible optional 500 sheet feeders for the M600 series and P4014 printers.
Allot of mis-information is being published about these feeders compatibility. Some vendors are claiming they are completely compatible and others somewhat. We wanted to set the record straight.
Since optional 500 sheet feeders are the number 1 selling accessory this is sure to cause a many incorrect parts being ordered- returns, wasted service calls and frustration. Hopefully we will prevent some of it.
Metrofuser engineers did side x side comparison of both printers and feeders and developed this service bulletin. Results show the newer M600 series feeder (CE998-67901) is backwards compatible and will work in any of the 4014/4015/4515 Printers. The older 4014/4015/4515 series feeder (CB518-67901) is NOT compatible at all with any of the M600 series. It will fit perfectly but you will get an error “Tray 2 Open” and it will not work.
